Healthcare over Internet Protocol Community Interest Company (HoIP CIC) was formed in 2007 by a collection of like-minded individuals drawn from business, health, academia and parts of government who could see the potential of expanding IP and mobile infrastructures for the delivery of socially useful services.
HoIP CIC works to develop a body of knowledge around, and encourage the uptake of, personal healthcare and wellness services delivered via internet/web technologies. It was the first Community Interest Company in this space. It provides consultancy, research, innovation broking, collaboration and project management services. It is involved in a number of regional, national and European research collaborations, typically as lead partner, working with industry (from global infrastructure providers to local SMEs), the third sector, local authorities, academia and trade associations. It maintains a virtual community of around 200 members, mostly technologists and health and care professionals located across Europe but with increasing interest from Asia, giving it considerable breadth and depth of expertise to draw on.
HoIP CIC seeks through collaboration and co-production to build a common body of knowledge and extend the art of the possible in using familiar consumer technology affordably to deliver wellness, care and health services that enable people independence and dignity.
